Window switching

Option + Tab.Find your window.

Hold Option, press Tab to choose, then release to switch. Every window is a separate choice, even when they belong to the same app.

Two Finder folders or different browser windows each get their own preview. Choose horizontal or tiled previews.

Quick Layout

Point at a window.Pick its place.

Point at a visible part of the window and press Option + Q by default. Click a position in the nine-position panel, or press 1–9, to place it.

Use halves, corners, or fill the screen. Only the selected window moves, leaving room for the menu bar and the system Dock.

Window Dock

Keep your windowsclose at hand.

Press Option + W, click a window to pick it up, then click the Window Dock to put it down. Move to the screen edge to find it again.

Enable “Keep” with the pin on a Finder item. Even after closing the window, click the docked item to reopen its saved folder path.

Does Tidest switch apps or windows?

Each window is a separate choice. When an app has several windows, switch directly to the one you need. Minimized windows are restored first.

Can I reopen a docked window after closing it?

First enable Keep with the pin on the docked item. Finder reopens the last successfully saved folder path. Items without Keep are removed when their original window closes.

Which other locations can I keep?

macOS Terminal can keep its current directory. Chrome and Safari can keep a window’s tabs and their order. Other apps only reopen the app. Terminal commands, SSH sessions, and actions within web pages are not restored.

Why does Tidest need permissions?

Accessibility is required to switch and arrange windows. Screen Recording is optional and only used for previews. macOS may ask for Automation permission when keeping or reopening windows in Finder and other supported apps.

Can every window fit any layout?

Some apps limit their window sizes. Tidest places them as close to the selected layout as possible. Fill screen uses the available area without entering a separate macOS full-screen desktop.
