Get started

Tidest is designed for macOS 14 or later. Visit the download page for available installers, version details, and installation instructions.

To start using window features, allow Tidest in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. Then open the app windows you want to use.

Arrange a window

Find the window in Tidest, open its layout picker, and choose a position. Tidest moves and resizes that window.

“Fill available space” uses the available screen area without entering a native macOS full-screen desktop. Some apps limit window sizes, so the final size may differ from the selected proportions.

Create and apply Scenes

A Scene saves apps you use together and their window layout. Choose your apps, set the layout, and save it. Apply the Scene when you need that layout again.

When an app has several open windows, follow Tidest’s prompt to choose the one you want. Scenes do not guarantee that closed documents, tabs, or previous sessions will reopen.

The Writing and Planning examples on the home page use the same open demonstration windows to show two layouts. You can create Scenes that fit your own work.

Understand permissions

Accessibility permission lets Tidest identify, move, and resize app windows, and bring a selected window to the front. Manage it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.

When a layout looks different

Check that the app has an available window and that Tidest has Accessibility permission. An app’s minimum window size can also affect the result.

Tidest calculates a layout from the usable area of the display that currently contains the window. macOS Spaces and app-specific window limits can affect switching and placement; home-page demonstrations use example windows on one display.
