How it works
Snapping windows one at a time gets tedious when you need three or four in place. Arrange Windows opens a full-screen layout canvas: start from a preset such as two columns, left and stacked right, four-grid, or three columns, or split regions and drag the dividers yourself. Assign a window to each region and they all move at once.
- Press Option + Shift + Q to split the screen
- Choose a window for each region, or drag cards to swap
- Click Apply to place all windows at once
Details
Press Option + Shift + Q by default to open the full-screen layout canvas. Pick a preset from the top bar (two columns, top and bottom, left and stacked right, four-grid, or three columns), or move your pointer to a region edge to split it, drag dividers to resize, and delete regions you don’t need.
Click Choose Window on any region card to assign an open window with a live preview on hover. Drag a card onto another region to swap their windows, or hold Option while dragging to move the region itself. Click Apply or press Return to place all assigned windows at once, and use Restore to undo the last arrangement.
Click Save in the top bar to store the current grid as a reusable layout template. When Window Dock is enabled, you can also pin the current window group to the dock and restore the entire multi-window workspace with one click.
Good for
- Setting up a coding workspace with an editor, a terminal, and a browser
- Laying out reference material, notes, and a draft on a wide or external display
- Saving an arrangement you use every day and restoring it in one click
